Job Description

Our client, a leading international construction services company, is seeking management-level experience for an Insurance Manager role in New York. The Insurance Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day insurance and claims matters at the local level.


  • Review insurance requirements of potential clients and in construction contracts under consideration for compliance with insurance program standards as established by Risk Management Department.
  • Make recommendations for contract revision to achieve compliance, or request changes to insurance program via Risk Management Department.
  • Develop and implement strategies with Risk Management, insurance carriers, and/or legal counsel to achieve contract compliance, resolve claims, and address other areas of dispute.
  • Prepare responses to insurance questions in RFQ's.
  • Supervise CCIP programs with TSIB or other CCIP Admin service provider.
  • Manage return to work program with subcontractors involved in Turner's CCIP program.
  • Respond to union agreement negotiations and audits including responsibility for union - related insurance issues.
  • Investigate claims, including interviewing affected parties, gathering data, preparing claim submission and identifying potential fraudulent claims.
  • Analyze loss data and make recommendations for claim settlement and reserves to BU and/or Risk Management Department.
  • Settle claims up to permitted settlement authority using independent discretion Develop and implement cost containment and litigation management procedures.
  • Perform oversight, direction and other related duties in connection with litigation.


  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of four years' insurance or claims experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, understand and interpret contract and insurance documents and forms, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels, both internal and external.
